How Pricing Works at Our Shop: A Transparent Guide
When you bring your cherished jewelry to us for repair, we want you to feel confident and informed about what you're paying for. Jewelry repair involves skilled craftsmanship, precision tools, and high-quality materials—all of which are factored into our pricing model. In this post, we’ll break down exactly how our pricing works so there are no surprises.
Our Hourly Rate:
The foundation of our pricing is our hourly labor rate of $170 (as of June 2025). This rate applies to the total design and fabrication time. It does not apply to the consultation time. Currently consultations are free and if you decide not to proceed you can walk away with no loss. Our hourly rate covers:
The time and expertise of a trained jeweler with over 10 years of experience
The use of specialized equipment (laser welder, laser engraver, oxy/propane torch, gravermax, microscope, etc.)
Studio overhead (insurance, utilities, rent, taxes, business expenses, website, marketing team, credit card fees, etc.)
Quality control, finishing touches, and packaging
Some jobs may only take 15–30 minutes, while others might require multiple hours. We always provide an estimate up front based on the projected time required. We try our best to match our estimates, but may be off sometimes. We’ll let you know mid-process if things aren’t going as planned and we can reasses the project.
Material Costs:
Jewelry repair often requires additional materials—solder, gemstones, clasps, chains, etc. We price materials at 2x our cost to cover sourcing, shipping, and storage.
Why do we double material costs?
It’s a standard practice in many trades and crafts. We spend time and energy sourcing exactly the right parts for your repair. Here’s what’s included:
Time spent sourcing quality materials
Quality control
Shipping, handling, insurance, and other associated fees
Sales Tax
Seattle sales tax is 10.35% (as of June 2025). Since we are located in Seattle, we apply this tax to all our services.
